Leeds Conservatoire

I couldn't expect more from LCM, I wish it was based in London as I miss my home and Leeds is nothing compared to London in terms of size, range of personalities in people and things to do, unfortunately.

I am not involved much with the SU and do not know enough about their work to comment. Perhaps this indicates that they do not do enough to publicise themselves?

I do not know of any societies in LCM.

Student accommodation is too expensive for what you get, the size is small, the quality of the rooms are poor. I do not like student halls at all.

There are lots of recording equipment and instruments you can take out and use. Band practice rooms can be annoying to use as they have a 24 hours booking system which means you cannot plan ahead when booking rooms for band practice.

Prior to coming to LCM, I did not have any experience with songwriting so the songwriting module has been a great experience and has been useful for my band. Because you meet so many new and different people you get to work on all sorts of collaborative projects, I cannot imagine being able to do this anywhere else. Lecturers can also be very fun which helps me to engage more in lessons. I am learning plenty from my course.

Leeds is a nice city but I could not live here after I graduate. Coming from London, Leeds is a very small city and I fear I would go crazy if I am confined to this small city for too long!

I am very optimistic about finding work after I graduate. LCM have helped me on my plan to pursue my singing career and I know what I need to do to achieve that. They are also realistic in their approach to job prospects, they do not give false hope and let you know of other lesser known jobs too. I have had workshops on being a backing vocalist which is a great addition to the lessons I get on being a lead vocalist.

Lecturers are always available if you have any queries outside of your lecture hours, they are open to arranging meetings with you for advice, guidance, and general work with your assignments.
