Course Summary

OVERVIEW

This programme equips you with both an advanced theoretical understanding of the subject and the practical skills that you’ll need for tackling cellular pathology in a research or clinical context at higher specialist level.

You’ll cover a range of different areas – exploring disorders, developing analytical techniques and getting to grips with histopathology. From there, you’ll tackle a Research Project on a topic of your choice – exploring the issues that fascinate you, while developing an understanding of both the process and the communication of scientific enquiry. Along the way, you’ll have the support of an expert team and access to specialist, state-of-the-art laboratory facilities. You’ll also benefit from our extensive links with hospitals across Greater Manchester – with the chance to do your research in clinically relevant areas.

Whether you study full-time for a year or part-time for up to three, our MSc Cellular Pathology can equip you for a career full of impact.

This degree is accredited by the Institute of Biomedical Science.

CAREER PROSPECTS

The programme can pave the way to a wide range of opportunities in areas like hospital science, biomedical and pharmaceutical. The subjects you’ll cover will not only help you prepare for the Institute of Biomedical Science specialist examination and for the advanced practice that follows, but can also lay the groundwork for careers in research or teaching or to pursue studies towards a PhD.

Our work with the NHS and clinicians helps us keep our curriculum up to date and clinically relevant, ensuring that our graduates have the skills and knowledge which are vital for the workplace – and sought after by employers.

You’ll have careers support from the moment you join us and for up to three years after you’ve finished your course.
