Course Summary

The focus of this PGCE is business studies, but there will also be opportunities to teach other business related subjects, such as economics. As well as preparing trainees for teaching in secondary schools, the course also provides the opportunity to experience teaching in Post 16 environments, either in a sixth form or further education establishment. Much of the knowledge, understanding and skills you will gain are transferable to teaching ICT as a second subject at Key Stage 3. An emphasis is placed on the use of a virtual learning environment (VLE) to access lecture materials and extension work as well as an online community. Many teachers who qualified on this course remain in touch with course tutors after they start work and often become subject mentors themselves furthering their career by holding positions of responsibility. Some graduates are now working in International Schools, including schools in China, Tanzania, Vietnam and Australia. Students will study this course in school direct route
