Course Summary

This full-time PGCE English Literacy and Language programme is perfect if you hold a degree in English or a related subject and are looking to become qualified to teach people who speak English as a second language, as well as those whose first language is English and are looking to improve their literacy skills. You will undertake two placements as part of the course to gain specialist knowledge in both areas.

You should have a keen interest in language and how it works, enjoy working with people of other backgrounds and cultures to develop their language skills and have a good level of spoken and written English.

This course is aimed at those who are looking to study on a full-time basis.

Once you complete this course you will be eligible to apply for QTLS, which is as highly regarded as a QTS by employers.

Entry requirements

You must hold an Honours Degree in an appropriate area to undertake this course and be able to work academically at Level 6. Hold a Level 2 qualification or higher in English and maths. If you do not hold a Level 2 in maths, this will discussed with you on application. These qualifications are required to seek QTLS after successful completion of the course. Successful completion of interview and assessment tasks.
