This qualification is an exciting opportunity to develop your skills as a translator, equipping you to work in the fast-growing Translation Services industry. You will experiment with different genres through practical, inspiring translation activities, and hone your practice through peer review. You will gain hands-on experience of using tools necessary to operate in this rapidly-evolving area (e.g. audio-visual translation or cloud-based translation tools). Your work will be underpinned by an understanding of translations theories and debates.

In this module, you will engage in authentic translation tasks and use the latest online translation technologies to translate texts in a range of fields. You will engage in professional and collaborative translation, peer review, quality control, and specialised translation. You will use and evaluate the latest cloud-based translation technologies, including translation memories, machine translation and term bases, and undertake a range of complex translation tasks to and from your main language and English. Translation professionals will contribute to the module, and you will put their advice into practice when engaging in authentic tasks, for example, audiovisual translation and volunteering with open translation communities.

To register for this postgraduate study, you should normally hold a UK honours degree or recognised equivalent from another country.
