Leeds Trinity offers a wide range of postgraduate courses, including master’s in areas such as business, creative writing, children, young people and families, journalism, law and psychology.
Typically, taught postgraduate student learn through a high-quality programme of lectures, workshops, and classes, and assessment of student progress is given through the submission of presentations, essays, and research projects.

Entry requirements depend on the course chosen, and students should see individual course pages for details. Typically, for taught master’s level study, an undergraduate degree with second-class honours is required in a relevant subject area. Some courses may require attendance of an interview or submission of a portfolio of work.

Leeds Trinity University has three academic faculties and departments within it: the Institute of Childhood and Education, the Faculty of Business, Computing and Digital Industries and the Faculty of Social and Health Sciences.
The university conducts world-leading research in all three of its academic faculties and has recently been recognised for this in the 2021 Research Excellence Framework (REF2021), where 84% of Leeds Trinity’s research publications have been identified as being of international quality (4*, 3* and 2*), with 10.9% rated as world-leading (4*).
In REF2021, Leeds Trinity submitted to six units of assessment, which represents an increase of more than 15% in output since the last REF assessment in 2014. This highlights the effort which the university is making to enhance the impact and outreach of its academic work, something which they are committed to continuing into the future
The Institute of Childhood and Education provides excellent research-informed practice and works with more than 600 schools giving students great placement opportunities.

When students join the university, they automatically become a member of Leeds Trinity Students’ Union (LTSU). The students’ union runs independently to the university, and is co-ordinated by a dedicated team of democratically elected officers. All students gain automatic membership upon enrolment, and are able to vote on student matters, raise issues, and establish dialogues with the university’s organisational staff.
The students’ union organises events throughout the year, and provides support and advice to through their student centre located on the Horsforth campus, and online via their website which gives access to all kind of free and useful resources.
The students’ union also runs many clubs and societies which form the backbone of Leeds Trinity’s social scene and brings opportunities for students to meet people from outside their course.
Additionally, the students’ union provides access to their NUS discount card, which gives all sorts of discount and cost-saving deals around town and online. There’s also the Students’ Union shop, which puts all profits back into supporting Leeds Trinity’s students.
Clubs and societies
Leeds Trinity University has a range of clubs and societies for students to join. Many are free to sign up, and provide a great opportunity to try something new, learn a skill or develop an existing interest alongside like-minded individuals. There’s the law society, gaming society and a Christian Union society, among many others. There’s also lots of sports clubs available, including athletics, cheerleading, tennis and squash. Sports teams are available to participate in at both recreational and competitive levels.
It’s a great way to meet people from outside the classroom, and the societies also offer an opportunity to take on positions of responsibility and organisation, which looks great on a CV and helps to contribute to the student culture at Leeds Trinity. It can be an especially memorable part of the university experience, and many students make friends through these societies which last a lifetime.
City life
Leeds is home to more than 60,000 students, and the city centre provides all the nightlife and entertainment students could wish for. The city centre is only a 12-minute train ride from Horsforth, which is where Leeds Trinity University is located. The city has a great variety of bars and clubs to choose from, with many of them offering regular student nights.
There’s a great live music scene within Leeds, with exciting venues, from the legendary Brudenell Social Club to the huge Leeds First Direct Arena. There’s also the annual Leeds Festival and Live at Leeds events to enjoy.
The food and drink scene in Leeds is ever evolving and exciting, and there’s options for all tastes. There are great shopping choices in the city, too, from Europe’s largest indoor market and independent shops to Trinity Leeds shopping centre, and the Victoria Quarter, which includes many of the big brand names.
Leeds is a hotbed of cultural offerings, including galleries and museums, urban festivals and carnivals, cinemas and theatres, art installations and historic landmarks. And for students who want to get away from it all, there is beautiful countryside and scenery just a few miles outside of the city centre.
University accommodation can be a great way to live conveniently and comfortably, in close proximity to students across the university and all within a very short distance of lecture theatres, laboratories and the library. On-campus accommodation is available for all postgraduate students and there is a range of options to suit most budgets.

Facilities
The modern Andrew Kean Learning Centre hosts study areas, IT services and the university library. It is the go-to base for studying on campus, and is a purpose-designed space with a comprehensive range of study spaces, educational resources and recreation areas.
There are several options for food and drink, including the dining hall, Starbucks Atrium Café, and the Student bar, each offering delicious and healthy food and a selection of drinks to ensure that students can easily stay refreshed and refuel throughout the day, at student-friendly prices. The Chapel is available for those who wish to attend mass, or to have some quiet contemplation time.
Leeds Trinity University is proud of its £2.2million sports and fitness centre, with its wide range of quality facilities that students can enjoy every day of the week.
The university also has The Media Centre, housing every bit of current technology that students may need to cover all media, including web, TV, radio and print.

Leeds Trinity is proud to provide effective, rounded support to its students, covering both personal and academic issues. The university understands the pressures which can be faced while studying a postgraduate degree, whether it be though work, time-management, health, family or finance, and it is dedicated to supporting its student community in any way possible.
There is a friendly and approachable support team on-site at the Horsforth campus, where students can go if they have any issues. The team is able to refer individual students to more specialised services wherever it is required.
Financial advice is available, regarding fees, living costs and how to manage student finances. Alongside this, the Learning Hub can offer academic support to postgraduate students and advice about how to manage their studies and prepare for assessments.
Additional support is available for those with disabilities or with dyslexia, and counsellors are available for any student struggling with their mental health or well-being.
To cover the cost of tuition, UK students starting a master’s degree in 2023/24 can apply for a loan of up to £12,167 from Student Finance England.
The loan is eligible to students enrolled on a full-time masters course, and who meet certain eligibility criteria. It is not means-tested, and is designed as a contribution towards the various costs of studying such as tuition fees, accommodation, transport and more.
All graduates of Leeds Trinity undergraduate courses will be eligible for a tuition fee discount on their postgraduate course. This discount could be as much as 50% - but students will need to have secured a first-class honours degree. Leeds Trinity’s Fees and Funding department can help students to apply for external funding opportunities, and register for grants such as the Disabled Student’s Allowance (DSA).

Research

The Leeds Centre for Victorian Studies is internationally renowned research centre focusing on the study of the Victorian period. The International Research Centre for Interactive Storytelling conducts research into methods of storytelling using new media and technology.
Distance learning
The MSc Health and Wellbeing and PG Cert Health and Wellbeing in the Workplace are distance learning courses delivered online. This format means that student can gain a postgraduate qualification by studying from anywhere in the world, giving a lot of flexibility to organise their work around existing employment or personal commitments.
