The study of human sexuality is a scientific discipline that aims to better understand sexual development, behaviour and interests across people of all types. Including areas like gender identity, puberty, sexual dysfunction and more, this field plays an important role in several areas including medicine and psychology.
Postgraduate students in this field can choose from over 20 different courses at universities in the UK, including MA, MSc, MPhil and PhD degrees.
Entry requirements for a postgraduate course in this subject will vary but you will often need an undergraduate degree in a humanities based subject area.
Modules will differ from course to course, but common topics in human sexuality include sexual development, gender identity, adolescent sexuality, abnormal sexual activities, and sexual dysfunctions.
Graduates of human sexuality studies may go on to work as doctors, researchers, clinical psychologists or counsellors, to name a few.
