About Postgraduate Prosthodontics

Prosthodontics is a specialised field within dentistry, dedicated to the treatment of oral or facial issues through the creation of specialised appliances and restorations.

A prosthodontist is an expert in creating dentures, crowns and bridges, dental implants and treatments for jaw disorders. Prosthodontists are highly trained dentists who go on to work in dental hospitals and clinics across both public and private sectors, providing treatments to a variety of patients.

There are more than ten postgraduate programmes in prosthodontics across UK universities, offering students the chance to build on their dental expertise and focus on areas such as dental implantology or fixed and removable prosthodontics.

What to expect

To be considered for a postgraduate course in prosthodontics you will usually need an accredited degree in dentistry and several years of post-qualification experience.
