About Postgraduate Quantity Surveying

Quantity surveyors are specialists in the construction field. They are responsible for estimating costs, budgeting for and managing expenditure for construction projects of all kinds, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory standards and laws.

Postgraduate students in quantity surveying will be able to build a suite of professional skills and industry relevant knowledge, as well as explore options to undertake training across areas such as commercial management.

There are over 15 universities offering more than 20 postgraduate programmes in quantity surveying to choose from.

What to expect

Postgraduate courses are usually designed for people who have a relevant undergraduate degree and then decide to specialise in quantity surveying. These courses usually take between one and two years to complete.

Modules covered in postgraduate courses in quantity surveying often include construction technology, project management, contract administration, and cost management.

Careers for quantity surveyors are available across residential, commercial, industrial and government building projects, as surveyors, construction managers or architectural technologists.
