For the majority of postgraduate courses, the University of Gloucestershire specifies that applicants need to have a ‘good honours degree or equivalent’. However, the exact entry requirements vary from course to course. Exact entry requirements can be found on course-specific pages, and the university Admissions Team is available to contact all year round for any individual queries.
International students who speak English as a second language need an IELTS score of 6.0 for all courses (no less than 5.5 for all skills), as all courses at the university are taught in English.
There may be the opportunity for students returning to university following time in the workplace to use their career experience as part of their application, in lieu of a relevant undergraduate degree. The University of Gloucestershire’s Students’ Union is a student-run organisation which represents the voice of students on campus, with part-time student representatives in each subject area and elected officers working full-time in leadership roles.
Every student attending the university will have ample opportunities to get involved in the students’ union and their student society, whether it’s joining or forming a society, running for office or simply enjoying the year-round catalogue of activities and events.

Clubs and societies

Overseen by the students’ union, there are over 80 student-run clubs and societies to join ranging from the Biology Society to the Dr. Who society. Sports clubs include cheerleading, dance, rowing, trampolining and American football. City life
Gloucestershire is a beautiful county in the southwest of England, with nearby cities including Bristol to the south and Birmingham to the north, two vibrant cities famed for their multiculturalism. Cheltenham and Gloucester are smaller but have plenty for students to get excited about, with over 100 bars and many more restaurants, clubs and venues catering to the student community.
The county is also a hub of cultural events, from the world-famous Cheltenham Jazz, Science, Literature and Music Festivals to Wychwood and Cricket, providing a vibrant atmosphere all year around.
Students who want to enjoy the peace of the countryside will find it within easy reach of both towns. The Cotswolds provides some of England’s most picturesque scenery, and plenty of ways to relax during downtime. For the more adventurous there’s rock climbing, kayaking, skiing, mountain biking and snowboarding, plus the world-famous Cheltenham Racecourse and Gloucester Rugby’s Kingsholm Stadium when students want to watch professionals in action.
There are plenty of accommodation options available to students at the University of Gloucestershire, with most rooms being en-suite and prices ranging from £140 to £224 per week, including utilities, internet access and contents insurance. The Helpzone offers a range of services to students on each campus, ranging from advice on disabilities, mental health and the provision of counselling to support with academic writing skills or help with managing finances and finding affordable accommodation. If students have an issue that may be affecting their studies, the Helpzone has trained professionals to support them through it.

Alumni Award
Students who have successfully finished an undergraduate degree at the university will be eligible for a discount of up to 20% on the costs of their course tuition. This will be automatically deducted from the fees charged. See here for more information.
International Bursaries
International students may be eligible for an automatic discount of up to £2,000 off the total tuition fee.
A number of 50% merit scholarships are also available for high-achieving international students entering certain courses. Awards are competitive and given to those who demonstrate their determination to succeed.

Postgraduate degrees at the University of Gloucestershire are designed to allow students to develop the vocational skills they need to advance their careers.
The courses are led by expert staff, with active links to their industries or sectors, who are able to ensure that all courses continue to be shaped to changing demands and values in that field.
Taught courses are those which involve regular contact time with these expert tutors, through lectures and seminars. Class sizes are kept small in order to give students every advantage when it comes to learning from their tutors, ensuring they get the right amount of attention to properly develop.
Taught courses still do involve some level of independent study, and students will be required to carry out their own background reading when completing assessments.
