The University of Warwick is a leading university that has established itself as a world-class institution and provider of quality postgraduate degree education. It has an international reputation for its research and teaching quality, offering students access to modern academic facilities and connections to business or industry partners. Warwick was rated as the 11th best university in the UK according to Complete University Guide 2024.
Established in 1961 and given its Royal Charter in 1965, Warwick has grown rapidly across its 400-acre site and today hosts nearly 30,000 students from around the world. Continued investment into the campus means that students can work in modern, well-equipped facilities that are built with both energy and academic efficiency in mind.
It offers a wide range of courses at postgraduate level, ranging from taught master’s degrees to research programmes across the arts, social sciences, sciences and medical disciplines. The university is home to over 20 specialist research centres, which between them offer a wide range of doctoral research opportunities.
The main campus of the university is located in the centre of England and offers students a peaceful, safe study environment while being just three miles away from the bustling city of Coventry. Just one hour away from London by train, Coventry is a student town with a diversity of shops, cafes, pubs and bars, and nightclubs, as well as museums, galleries and festivals.

Prospective students will be able the choose from more than 340 taught and research master’s courses, leading to qualifications like MA, MSc, MBA and LLM. Students can often expect to study and collaborate across multiple departments or faculties during their course. It also offers various PhD and doctorate level study options and has a strong reputation for research.
Warwick supports flexible learning options designed for modern students, including various part time and online master’s courses. This allows students to study around their existing obligations and responsibilities while taking the next step in their academic journey.

The University of Warwick provides students with a wide choice of postgraduate study options, ranging from master’s degrees to doctoral research programmes.
Every course at the university has its own admission criteria, which can vary depending on the department and the course being applied to. It is recommended that students check their eligibility for their chosen programme before applying.
In general, Warwick requires at a 2:2 in a UK undergraduate honours degree, or equivalent qualification. Applicants for doctoral study will usually need a 2:1 level undergraduate honours degree or a master’s degree with a merit grade, or international equivalents.
Warwick is a highly ranked university when it comes to graduate employment prospects, with it placing 6th in the UK for ‘most targeted university by the top 100 UK employers (High Fliers, 2021). This university invests heavily in building relationships with key employers and programming courses to stay relevant to changing industry and research frontiers.
Warwick maintains a number of organisational partnerships through which the university designs and develops its academic programmes, undertakes collaborative research activities and improves access to placements, work experience and employment for students. These partnerships span national and international levels and include other universities as well as research groups and other institutions worldwide.
Students will also be able to make use of a comprehensive careers service at Warwick, offering support in finding and securing placements, work experience and volunteering opportunities. It also provides support for developing career skills, various careers events and department specific advice from senior careers consultants.
Support for enterprise and independent business is also available through the careers service, helping students launch their entrepreneurial ideas.
Warwick has a large variety of accommodation options, suitable for both on- and off-campus living. The university has invested in a range of accommodation facilities to support productive, independent and social postgraduate lifestyles.
The university maintains a number of university halls for postgraduate students. Some are in the central campus while others are nearby, and students can choose from shared bathroom or en-suite options. Contracts range between 40 and 50 weeks, depending on students’ preferences.
Warwick also works with an accommodation provider which offers living units reserved for new postgraduate students in the first instance. There are also dedicated residences for couples and families, so every lifestyle is catered for.
The university also works to directly connect landlords with students through its lettings service, allowing Warwick to vet listings and provide students with tailored accommodation support.

There are many routes to funding for postgraduate students at Warwick. They include central university scholarships and bursaries, doctoral studentships and scholarships through UKRI centres, as well as external awards.

The Warwick Chemistry Home Taught Masters Scholarship, providing a £5,000 bursary for students on the MSc Chemistry course, from the UK, who demonstrate academic excellence.
The Warwick Law School LLM Scholarship, providing two scholarships which cover 100% of tuition fees for students who have applied to an LLM programme at the university.
Postgraduate research students will be able to apply for awards such as:
Scholarships from the Analytical Sciences Centre for Doctoral Training, which covers fees as well as providing a yearly stipend and research support funding. It is available to applicants with a strong undergraduate degree in the sciences or mathematics, who are pursuing a 1+3 Master’s and PhD programme.
The Warwick Law School PhD Research Scholarship provides two scholarships that cover full tuition fees for three years, as well as providing a stipend for living costs. Students who have applied for a PhD programme in law or are in their first year at the law school are eligible.
