York’s leading university was established back in 1960, with its foundation being the serene Heslington Hall which now forms the heart of the campus. The University of York offers postgraduate students a choice from more than 330 programmes of study, ranging across taught and research master’s as well as doctoral research opportunities, for which it has become renowned.

Entry onto a postgraduate course at the University of York is subject to a number of academic and non-academic entry requirements. These criteria can vary according to the course being applied to, as well as the student’s level of study and their country of origin.
In most cases, students applying to a taught postgraduate programme will need a 2:1 undergraduate Hons degree or higher, or equivalent qualification. In some cases, a 2:2 grade at undergraduate level will be considered in tandem with other qualifications or relevant professional experience.
International applicants may need to meet minimum English language requirements, usually through the provision of valid test scores such as IELTS, TOEFL, PTE Academic and CAE.
For example, students applying to the MSc in Economics and Finance will need a 2:1 degree at undergraduate level in subjects like economics or finance, or a similar subject with a demonstrable focus on economics, mathematics or statistics.
