Postgraduate Reviews of Courses at SOAS University of London

MA Chinese Studies

SOAS UNIVERSITY OF LONDON

Charlotte - February 2024

Best is all the people you meet and the great lecturers.
Worst, is the countless security for a tiny student population which is entirely unnecessary and the administration side is notoriously bad. I was warned about it through rumours but it’s mutually expected to be bad so we all accept it. read full review

SOAS UNIVERSITY OF LONDON

Alexandra - February 2024

Overall I really like the professors (most seem very passionate, are helpful, and create very interesting modules) and the course materials. I’m glad I’m doing this degree at the end of the day. However SOAS administration is terrible. I love the small close knit feel, the university only has 5,000 or so students so this helps build a close knit community. In addition the small (compared to my undergraduate years) class sizes are excellent for class discussions. read full review

SOAS UNIVERSITY OF LONDON

Akansha - February 2024

The best aspect of my university experience is how cosmopolitan and diverse my campus is. There are a plethora of voices, which gives me a chance to immerse myself into a newer culture. And I especially love how expansive the library is, how deeply it embodies diversity and the coloured experience.

The location is perfect, close to other unis and with great transport links. It’s near other university bars which gives options for somewhere to go after class.

The social life of the university is a little limited with not many places to meet people and very few events especially for postgraduates. The admin is also unreliable and sometimes you end up in a feedback loop being bounced between departments because no one knows whether or not they can help and aren’t willing to look into it for you. read full review
I think the teaching quality is quite good. However, the student support is not enough. read full review
