I have loved being an undergraduate student at Swansea University -for personal reasons I was unable to attend university as a teenager so, when the opportunity arose fifty years later, I grabbed it with both hands. One of the best decisions of my whole life as I have learned so much which has completely changed my viewpoint on just about everything.
This low score is only because I have chosen not to attend events and activities because of my age and the distance I would have to travel to use them
Facilities are excellent and a full range of sporting activities are on offer
The university is served with an extensive library with a high proportion of on-line availability. Unable to comment on other facilities as they have not been used.
The course has been on-line because of Covid restrictions. In many ways I have found this preferable to in-class teaching as the modules are recorded and can be reviewed during revision - an added bonus is the recordings are scripted so details can be clarified in the script. The tutors did an amazing amount of work during the summer recess to provide an on-line MA programme. Additional zoom meetings were available for students having problems related to the course making the academic support excellent under the circumstances.
Excellent sports facilities a short walk from the campus. The sea is across the road for those who want to engage in water sports. On campus, the SU arrange for entertainment and this year excelled themselves in providing outdoor covered facilities for food and drink with covid guidelines. The university is served with excellent transport facilities into Swansea where Wine Street is the favoured location for partying.
Not really applicable to me as I am retired and only intend to do voluntary work in the future. I am aware that the University is committed to providing career advice and information on job opportunities to all students.
I am a mature student who, because of my vulnerability, opted to shield myself before the first Covid lockdown in March 2020. Teaching staff and welfare staff contacted me regularly to ensure my well-being which I really appreciated. The services that are available to students are well publicised in the student newsletters.
