This course uses state- of- the- art technologies and has a strong focus on practical and analytical skills which you can apply in your working environment. Your face-to-face teaching on campus will be supplemented by web-based e-learning. Throughout your degree the emphasis will be on practical as well as analytical skills. We have carefully designed the course to provide you with an increased knowledge and understanding of Health Informatics, and the skills you need to apply your learning to professional practice. As such, this Master’s degree will give you the in-depth knowledge of the field to potentially enhance your prospects for career progression. On completion this course leads to MSc in Health Informatics.

In this module, students will study the skills required by the professional health informatician including an introduction to information governance, including privacy, and the maintenance of confidentiality, data security, legislation, ethical considerations, and current UK and global eHealth strategies. Students will also begin to develop their academic skills in literature searching, the critical evaluation of research literature and reflective practice.

Students need a UK Honours Degree Grade 2:2 or above or an equivalent qualification for overseas applicants. Undergraduates of any of the following cognate disciplines should consider applying for this course: Healthcare Professionals / Management / Technology; Health Information / Data Management; Medical / Clinical Records / Coding; ICT and Computer / Health / Social / Sports Science; Health Economics; Nursing and Social Work / Care; Business Administration / Management and Application Statistic. Non-graduates are also welcome to apply. All applications are considered on individual merit, taking into account of any relevant work experience.
