Course Summary

Course overview:

In recent years there has been a significant increase in the numbers of international students attending UK universities, especially from the Far East. This programme provides clear links between theory and international business practice and places discussion of relevant management techniques and themes in the context of the international stage.

The course is attractive to international students wishing to study within a different culture, as well as home students wishing to experience a wide range of cultures and develop international knowledge. The programme focuses on areas such as global decision-making within operations and finance, global economics and cultural issues within management in an international environment. It equips you with:

  • knowledge and understanding of the global influences on business and an ability to analyze management decisions in an international setting
  • an understanding of and an opportunity to study recent advances in management theory, research and practice. This aim is supported by the research modules Business Research and Business Research Methods.

How you are assessed:

The programme assessment strategy has been designed to assess your subject specific knowledge, cognitive and intellectual skills and transferable skills applicable to the workplace. The strategy ensures that you are provided with formative assessment opportunities throughout the programme which support your summative assessments. The overall assessment load has been balanced to prevent, as far as possible, bunching of assessments.

The assessments will include assignments, business reports, case studies, presentations, research proposal and literature review, and the production of a dissertation. The assessments may include individual or group essays or reports.

The assessment criteria, where appropriate, will include assessment of presentation skills and report writing.

Career opportunities:

Successful completion of this programme will open opportunities in international business and management.
