Legal Practice Course LPC

THE UNIVERSITY OF LAW
Overall Rating

Hate it. They offer no help, no reading weeks, no facilities, library and IT is poor as the computers dont even play their own itutorials and don't play the lectures online. You pay around 16,500 For this course and theyb give you a meagre 15 printing credit. No help at all if you're falling behind. It's all a big profit making scheme for them. You dont get anything for your money considering this is the most expensive uni offering the LPC.

Student Union

There isn't one. If there is, they havent even informed us of it.

Clubs and Societies

There isn't any. They treat you as if you're all grown up like them and 50. Therefore there isn't any clubs or activities for young people in their 20s . Only thing they have is a crappy library which is all cramped, smells and very small and outdated.

Uni Facilities

Really poor. Nothing works. No student area. No microwaves/ water dispensers/fridges. If you are unwell, there isn't even a separate resting room for you to take a little rest in order to feel better. They only care about their own profits and dont care about students. Avoid this place.

Course and Lecturers

This is relating to bloomsbury campus:

Liked: teachers have knowledge.
Dislike: cost of course. Amount of work is extraordinary. How can they expect you to do all that in one week, on top of your other subjects?? They don't even give any reading weeks to catch up when you fall behind due to the volume of work. So many students dropped out of course. But they still expect full payment. No help to catch up on work if you fall behind. They are setting you up for fail. Only interested in getting their money. Loads have failed
last year and had to pay all again to redo course. No facilities for students. e.g computers don't work, can't listen to lectures using the library computers as their own software isn't supported!! There is no student space. No microwaves. Not like any other uni as seems like an office environment everywhere. Library needs refurbishment. In fact whole building needs refurbishment.

Student Support

They only give 2 or 3 counselling sessions. This is really poor considering how much you spend to study there. If you are struggling and ask a tutor for advice, they will say that you're not trying hard enough and it's your fault that you're behind in your work. They will also advise you to drop out, pay the remaining fee due, then start again in September part time and pay the new full fees again for the part time course.
