Legal Practice Course LPC

THE UNIVERSITY OF LAW
Overall Rating

Dismal. While the employability service is very good, I would not recommend this university to anyone. If you have the freedom to choose where to undertake your course, do not choose the University of Law.

Uni Facilities

The university’s facilities are functional. There are limited sports and recreational facilities, save for an underground ‘break out’ area. There is a cafe and a library in each campus.

Course and Lecturers

Mixed bag and very much dependent on the lecturer.

City Life

Yes. The Bloomsbury campus is within walking distance of Tottenham Court Road station, and the Moorgate campus is near St Paul’s.

Job Prospects

The university’s employability service is highly recommended. I was in a difficult position last year, as I was a BPTC student with the university but did not wish to become a barrister, as I was aiming to secure a training contract. The advice and guidance given by the university has been instrumental in my success in doing so this year. I was given extensive support in the form of application reviews, interviewing advice, and assessment centre training sessions. Manveen Twohill’s support was especially appreciated.

Student Support

The pastoral support services offered by the school are dismal. Due to a lack of communication on the university’s part, my application for my student visa was delayed and I started the LPC late. Calling the International Visa Office (‘IVO’) for more information was a futile exercise, and at one point I had been calling the office for an hour without receiving any response. Despite some positive experiences at the university, particularly with the Employability Service, my interaction with the IVO has coloured my perspective of the university.
