Edge Hill understands the difference that knowledge can make. The university offers a variety of taught master’s degrees as well as postgraduate certificates and diplomas in a range of specialisms.
Whether the aim is to expand their skills and knowledge, gain new qualifications or pursue a new career path, courses are designed to help students achieve their aspirations. Most programmes can be studied flexibility on a full or part-time basis or at multiple intakes throughout the year. Aspiring teachers can also study for a PGCE.
With over 137 years’ experience, students will be in expert hands. Available in early years, primary, secondary or post-14 education, PGCE programmes focus on students’ development as a teacher rather than the subject they intend to teach. As one of the largest providers of professional qualifications for teachers, many PGCE students return to specialise in areas including dyslexia and dyscalculia.
Research
Students at Edge Hill make the world a better place with research that counts. Home to a thriving and dynamic research culture, Edge Hill allows students to work on insights that have a far-reaching impact for society, culture and the economy. The university delivers research that’s considered “internationally excellent” and “world-leading” according to the latest Research Excellence Framework (REF 2021).
There are three types of research degrees that can be studied full or part-time: Masters by Research, PhD and Professional Doctorate. Either route will enable students to explore gaps in knowledge, help change lives and feel immersed in a subject they are passionate about.
Edge Hill also offers a Postgraduate Certificate in Research that gives students the opportunity to ensure their ideas and methodologies align with their academic goals and to prepare them for doctoral level study.
Distance learning
Select CPD and PGCert programmes at postgraduate level are available for distance learning, ideal for any students who don’t want to relocate due to their own personal needs or circumstances.
These courses are taught online through a mix of pre-recorded lectures and live tutorials. Students can also be assessed remotely, although some parts of the course may require students to travel to the university for individual assessments.
Any students who want to study at Edge Hill but who cannot commit to travelling to the university should speak to the university’s admissions teams to find out more about the options available.
