Many of their staff are well renowned, and students may find themselves being taught by figures they have read about in previous studies. LSHTM is as a UK leading centre for world-class research. They lead hundreds of research projects and groups working on all aspects of public and global health, while their strategic research centres focus on major health threats at home and overseas.
LSHTM staff are actively working on many current public health issues, such as the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, providing consultancy services to governments and worldwide health organisations. The Students' Representative Council (SRC) is a student-run organisation which represents the voices and interests of LSHTM’s student community of around 1,200 full-time learners. All students become registered members upon enrolment at the university, and the council is organised by elected representatives. Each course has at least one representative, whose role is to establish a fair dialogue between students and the university, to create an improved student experience and cultivate a positive university community.
All LSHTM students benefit from membership to the University of London (UoL), which represents a network of over 170,000 students enrolled at various London institutions. UoL provides a huge amount of resources, as well as running many clubs and societies which can be joined by any of its members.

The University of London’s Student Union, Student Central is an organisation which serves students from its 17 member institutions and three central academic bodies. This represents over 170,000 current students, and commands a huge amount of resources and opportunities as well as having a student centre in central London with a swimming pool, gymnasium, stationary shop, several cafés and a lively bar with regular events and activities.

As one of the world’s leading public health institutions, the university has accumulated a huge archive of research literature and public health documents stretching back over a hundred years. These are stored in LSHTM’s Library & Archives Service, which gives students access to a massive selection of books, journals and electronic resources. It is one of the oldest and most comprehensive collections of public health literature, and is continually being updated by the internationally excellent research which the university produces.
One of the major advantages of studying in Bloomsbury is the density of top-level universities in the immediate area and, since LSHTM students are members of the University of London, they are able to freely use Senate House Libraries, the British Library, and many more superb and historic facilities.

VIEW SCHOLARSHIPSLSHTM offers a wide range of taught Master's degree programmes at its Bloomsbury campus, specialising in public and global health. The duration of each course is typically one year of full-time study, although many can be taken as part-time over two years. This enables students to tailor their education to suit their personal and professional lives, and makes it more feasible to earn while studying.
Medical students are also able to intercalate to LSHTM after completing their third year of study at any recognised university globally. The university website has a wealth of information about alternative pathways to undertake a taught degree programme at LSHTM.
