Postgraduate

The university works hard to ensure that students have every opportunity to tailor their education around existing commitments and can gain valuable professional experience before graduating.
There are a large number of postgraduate courses at the University of Bath, in various subject areas and in both taught and research modes of study. Entry requirements differ based on a number of these factors, and since the University is reasonably selective, a minimum undergraduate degree classification of 2:1 in a relevant program is typically required for postgraduate admission.
However, there are many alternative pathways to entry, and prospective postgraduate applicants are encouraged to get in touch with the university admissions team for any queries or questions.
Postgraduate courses are typically delivered in English, and non-native English-speaking students will need to demonstrate a minimum level of English language proficiency before they are accepted onto a programme. Additionally, admission onto some courses will involve the submission of a small portfolio of work.

The University of Bath Students' Union is run by elected student officers and is dedicated to helping students make the most of their time at the University, while promoting their interests and welfare. There is a dedicated postgraduate officer, and a SU team offers support for a wide range of academic and personal issues.
Clubs and societies
There are over 180 clubs and societies available at the University of Bath. Membership costs are reasonable, and they can be a great way of meeting like-minded people.
Sports clubs include archery, American football, Taekwondo, windsurfing and there’s a wide range of societies dedicated to the arts, faith, politics, culture, and more.
There are also department-based societies and specific postgraduate-only groups. If students can’t find a club or society they like, they can apply to the SU to start their own.
City life
Bath is a lively, walkable city, with impressive Georgian architecture and countryside just minutes from the centre. It is the only UK city to be awarded UNESCO World Heritage City status, and has plenty of cultural inspiration, over 200 restaurants, and plenty of bars and underground nightclubs to suit any taste.

Facilities
Over the last 10 years, the University has invested over £450 million into department-specific research and learning facilities. This includes new teaching spaces such as the School of Management building and a GBP 10.9 million arts and management building, The library is open 24 hours per day with dedicated postgraduate learning spaces.
Bath is proud of its £35 million Sports Training Village which is home to Team Bath and provides a world-class standard of fitness and training facilities.
Student choosing to live on campus have everything they need for success, with plenty of cafés and coffee shops, a post office, launderette, doctors and dentist, cash machine, a student bar and nightclub located on site.

The Student Advice Team – available every day of the year, students can visit the team to access services and get support on any issues they might be facing. Students can talk to an adviser 24 hours a day through the Be Well -Talk Now service.
The Student Money Advice Team: Free guidance on all aspects of student finance, from advice on loans, bursaries, and emergency funding to help with budgeting through the money management tool Blackbullion.
Disability Service Team: Physical disability and learning difficulty support is offered, as well as academic support and finding accessible accommodation.
Wellbeing Service Team: Friendly, confidential, inclusive, and non-judgemental advice on all wellbeing.
Counselling and Mental Health Team: One-on-one, confidential support on a range of mental health issues. Counselling and cognitive behavioural therapy available, with trained advisors. The team also offer an online platform, Be Well App, for self-help mental health guidance.
The International Support Service: Practical advice, information, and support for international students.
Twenty-four scholarships, each worth £5,000, are available in the faculties of Engineering & Design, Humanities & Social Sciences and Science.

Research
The University of Bath offers research-based degree courses. Students can choose to either join an academic-led, pre-defined PhD project or write a proposal for their own project and apply for supervision from one of the University’s academics.
