“It is very comfortable, we have student support all the time. It is near University in a quiet area.”
“Great.”
“It is very comfortable and the staff are very help and supportive.”
“Small but fine. However, there really should be another notice board or shelves in the rooms as bare white walls are depressing. Nothing is particularly nice but it is cheap, easy to clean and temporary.”
“University accommodation is close to the campus. Only 20min walk. Amazing atmosphere. Sometimes minor issues with basic utilities and maintenance.”
“Old, out of fashion compared to outside accommodation but quiet and safe, long distance from accommodation to university.”
Facilities
One of the main advantages for postgraduate students is The Gilchrist Postgraduate Club, a dedicated place for students and staff to study and socialise in. Facilities include study booths with integrated TV screens, a seminar room and a café/ bar.
The universities library is one of the largest in the UK, with over 2,200 study spaces, 800 PCs and an impressive collection of manuscripts, archives and rare books, and is given a thumbs up from many student reviewers. There are also numerous study areas – including social learning spaces and silent zones, and a café.
Around the university, there are another ten cafes and restaurants across the different campuses, as well as a second-hand book shop, a sports shop, and an art gallery. For sports fans, there are two sports centres located in the Stevenson Building and Garscube Sports Complex, where facilities include 3 tennis courts, a swimming pool and a sauna. The gym in particular gets rave reviews from students.
A total investment of £1billion is planned for a new 14-acre site adjacent to the main campus in Glasgow. Over the next ten years, plans include creating a Research and Innovation Hub and a Teaching Hub.
Student reviewers gave praise to the university's facilities, commenting on the range on offer, how modern and high quality they were, and how they loved that the university is investing in them so much.
