Support ranges from financial service, to help with finding accommodation and searching for a job. A confidential disability support service is also available. Each student is allocated a personal tutor, who will be able to assist you with any academic decisions. The Students’ Representative Council offer a Nightline service, where you can speak to someone in confidence over the phone anytime between 7 pm – 7 am. Counselling groups, courses, workshops and one-to-one sessions are free of charge and open for all students.
The majority of students have spoken fondly about both the academic and personal support they’ve received from the university, especially when it came to money advice.
University of Glasgow students on Postgraduate Search say:
“My academic tutors are excellent and have supported me greatly, both with my research and in terms of pastoral care. I had a succession of family issues last year involving illnesses and both of my supervisors were compassionate and helpful, securing an extension on my annual submission. I have used the financial aid service and found it to be helpful.”
“One to one feedback, excellent support courses with extra attention on individual needs.”
“Very good and quite personalised.”
“Most of our class tutors will work closely with us. So we can get a feedback and meaningful consultation.”
“Lecturers are willing to help out with specific academic problems, but the best help I have received about general academic success has been from the extra classes the university puts on. These are free, very helpful, and easy to attend.”
