The University of Northampton offers an extensive range of taught and research postgraduate qualifications, including MA, MSc, MRes, MPhil and PhD options. Courses feature modern, career-focused modules, which are fed by the most up-to-date research.

The University of Northampton offers a varied portfolio of postgraduate study programmes, working with a number of professional bodies to ensure students receive accreditation for their studies where appropriate. UON understands that postgraduate learners often have professional or personal commitments outside of their studies. As such a number postgraduate courses at the university are available for study part-time or via distance learning, and many courses offer a selection of start dates throughout the year.
Postgraduate entry requirements at UON vary between courses, and students are advised to carefully check the criteria for their preferred qualification prior to application.
To study a Master’s degree, students are usually required to have been awarded at least a 2:1 in their undergraduate degree. For research degrees, the entry requirements may be higher or may require specific professional experience.
English language
International students may be required to evidence their English language proficiency. The standard requirements for most postgraduate qualifications at UON are as follows:
Some courses, including Nursing and Social work, have their own English language requirements.
Students who do not meet the English language requirements may receive an offer conditional on their passing a pre-sessional academic English language course at the university.

Northampton Employment Promise
The university is so confident in the employability of its graduates, that if students are not employed six months after graduating, it guarantees six months of dedicated support from a careers development consultant, followed by a paid internship if students are still looking for work. Northampton Students’ Union is run by students to represent the student body and ensure every voice is heard. It runs a broad selection of clubs and societies as well as a schedule of student events and activities. It also offers a confidential student advisory service.
The Students’ Union at the University of Northampton offers Free Sports and Societies which include free kit and membership for students. The SU currently runs over 70 student societies and nearly 30 sports clubs. Keen sportspeople can also take part in Varsity, an annual inter-university sporting competition.
Clubs and societies are open to all members and offer the opportunity to get involved in an existing interest or hobby or try something new.
Students who cannot find a specific group are encouraged to start their own club or society and will receive ample support and guidance from the students’ union to do so.
Known historically for its shoe and leather industry, Northampton nowadays offers a bustling town centre, plenty of entertainment and localised nightlife. The town has a large selection of places to eat, drink and socialise, as well as culture, history and green spaces.
