The University of Strathclyde is a leading international technological university that offers a diverse portfolio of taught and research postgraduate courses. There are a range of taught and research courses available to postgraduate students at the University of Strathclyde.
Postgraduate courses at Strathclyde are split across the university’s four academic faculties:
Taught courses are typically delivered through a series of lectures, workshops and seminars, with assessments in the form of projects, essays, research projects and exams. Students can choose from either full-time or part-time study options for taught postgraduate courses.
Postgraduate research is overseen by Strathclyde Doctoral School, which is home to 1,800 doctoral researchers from over 80 countries. Strathclyde Doctoral School cultivates a vibrant research environment where postgraduate researchers are guided to become future leaders in specialist fields.

Entry requirements for postgraduate courses at the University of Strathclyde vary on a courses-by-course basis. Prospective students should consult individual course pages for specific course entry requirements. Typically, to study a course at master’s level, applicants will need to hold a good honours degree or equivalent overseas qualification.
International students will need to demonstrate a suitable level of English language proficiency to undertake postgraduate courses at Strathclyde. English language proficiency is generally assessed using TOEFL or IELTS test results. The University of Strathclyde International Study Centre offers a pre-master’s programme for international students who do not meet the university’s English language requirements. After completing this programme, students can progress to a postgraduate degree.
PhD research can be undertaken as part of established research projects at the university; alternatively, prospective candidates are welcome to submit their own research proposals for consideration. To apply with their own research proposal, students should contact a prospective internal supervisor based at the university to discuss their intended research project. The supervisor will then advise applicants on the suitability of their proposal.

Strathclyde’s Students’ Union (SU) promotes, represents, and supports the interests and welfare of all students at the university. In addition to providing support and advice services for students, the SU programmes a range of events, activities and volunteering opportunities throughout the academic year.
The SU currently organises around 200 student societies and 48 sports clubs across a range of interests and activities.

Situated on-campus and close to the university’s main buildings, Strathclyde’s campus village houses over 1,440 students in self-catered rooms and has its own dedicated on-site management team. VIEW SCHOLARSHIPSThere are over 200 taught postgraduate courses available at the University of Strathclyde. Each course is comprised of a mix of compulsory classes and elective topics for students to choose from. Course modules are generally delivered through lectures, seminars and practical work. Site visits and placements are a feature of many taught postgraduate courses at Strathclyde and they provide unique opportunities for real-world practical learning experiences.
There are 33 areas of study covered by research degrees at the University of Strathclyde, and prospective students can elect to study at either MRes, MPhil, PhD or EngD level.
The university’s Doctoral School provides dedicated and unique support for Strathclyde research students. In addition to providing research training seminars designed to develop transferable research skills, the Doctoral School organises a number of events throughout the year and provides bespoke assistance to students as they develop professionally.
There are 29 Strathclyde postgraduate courses currently available via remote web-based learning. Students have access to top tutors and support staff throughout distance learning courses and can expect regular online seminars with fellow students. All the material needed to study is made available via the university’s cutting-edge virtual learning environment (VLE) and each distance learning module typically includes two methods of assessment.
