Surrey's student accommodation is spread across its three Guildford-based sites and is grouped in friendly communities to ensure students can make friends, find support and settle into their new home quickly.
The university has more than 6,000 rooms in self-catered housing to suit different budgets, and many of the available rooms have an en-suite bathroom, Wi-Fi, 24/7 security and are within walking distance to the town centre. Postgraduate students can also opt to live in accommodation independent from the university. If a postgraduate student chooses this option, the accommodation team at Surrey will help support in the search for the right place to live, at an affordable rent, throughout their time at university.
Facilities
The University of Surrey invests heavily in its facilities. In the last 10 years, it has spent GBP 88 million on improving student accommodation, GBP 36 million on the world-class Surrey Sports Park - which has a GBP 500,000 gym, an indoor climbing centre, a 50 metre swimming pool and 10 grass pitches – and GBP 16 million on the new Library and Learning Centre, which is open 24/7 during term time. More recently, the university has invested in two new student spaces, MySurrey Hive and MySurrey Nest.
Each academic department boasts impressive facilities, including a TV studio, diamond detectors and high-tech laboratories. The Ivy Arts Centre holds an impressive 200-seat theatre, two studios, and a bar, with many events hosted throughout the year.
Surrey's campus also has a number of food and social outlets for students and friends to spend time relaxing in, including a pizza takeaway station, a pub, restaurant, three Starbucks cafes, a convenience shop and a nightclub.
