York St John University is a highly rated higher education institution in the north of England, having placed 10th in the 2022 Whatuni Student Choice Awards. It offers a wide range of postgraduate programmes across a number of disciplines, all from its highly sustainable campus in the historic city of York.
The university’s history stretches back to 1841, when it was founded as a college with just a single student to its name. It has grown from strength to strength since, having achieved university status in 2006 before gaining degree awarding powers for research qualifications.

Postgraduate taught courses at available at St John, including MA and MSc qualifications, among others. Students will be able to study through seminars, lectures, assignments and practical work, in some cases. Placements may a key component for some students, depending on their field.

For example, students applying for the MA in Applied Theatre will need to demonstrate achievement of an undergraduate honours degree in any subject area, at a 2:2 level or above.
Applicants for the MSc in Leadership and Management will typically have an undergraduate honours degree at 2:2 level or higher, in a related subject. Applicants with alternative qualifications will be considered in light of relevant professional experience.
Students applying for the DCounsPsy in Counselling Psychology should have a previous degree at 2:1 level, in psychology, from a course accredited by the BPS. Applicants from other academic backgrounds are also considered if they can demonstrate sufficient professional competency through experience.

The value of this scholarship varies depending on previous academic performance, with 2:2 students receiving a 20% reduction in tuition fees while 1st class honours students will receive a 50% discount
