University College Birmingham is recognised as a centre of vocational excellence by the UK government and industry organisations such as the Institute of Hospitality, Chartered Management Institute, Digital Marketing Institute, Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and the Society of Sports Therapists. Their practical-led courses equip students with the latest industry knowledge and skills that will enable them to succeed in their chosen careers.
The university is known for its strong industry links. It works with over 1,000 national and international employers - such as BMW, Mondelez, Claridge’s and Scotland Rugby - to provide world-class placement opportunities for students, giving them the chance to gain the professional work-based experience that will set them apart. There are also residential trips across the UK and overseas.
In addition to providing placement guidance and support, University College Birmingham’s dedicated employability team, hired@UCB, provides workshops on CV writing and interview etiquette and hosts networking events.
The hired@UCB support is available to all UCB students and alumni for up to five years after graduation. The university is also hugely supportive of entrepreneurship and students can receive intensive start-up support to set up their own businesses with assistance from Enterprise Hive and the BSEEN initiative.
