Course Summary

This postgraduate programme integrates the advanced clinical, academic and research components of musculoskeletal physiotherapy practice. The emphasis is on the advanced clinical reasoning and evidence-informed management of patients with musculoskeletal disorders. Flexibility in the selection of modules allows for physiotherapists with particular interests to be accommodated.

The programme offers students the opportunity to evaluate and challenge existing practice, develop and undertake clinical research and learn about new and emerging treatment options. Students will develop clinical skills and understanding of evidence-based practice in their field of specialisation through completion of taught modules and at least one compulsory clinical placement. Students will benefit from the clinical mentorship of recognised experts in physiotherapy when on placement.

Careers

Recent graduates have pursued careers in academia, research, management or furthered their clinical practice. Several students have used the MSc as a springboard for gaining funding to undertake PhDs at a range of high-ranking London universities. Graduates have also secured senior positions, such as team leads and clinical specialist posts within major London hospitals.

Employability

The programme aims to transform the way you think about expert patient care, and the theoretical foundation for musculoskeletal physiotherapy clinical practice. You will receive rigorous, evidence-based training in best research and clinical practice, which provides you with the skills and knowledge to apply for clinical, educational or research posts.
