Course Summary

This programme develops rigorous understanding of mathematical and economic modelling and practical application, relevant to the finance industry. You have access to our Bloomberg Finance Lab, a leading industry facility which offers you real time data and news; Mathematica software, used by financial and banking industries, and the opportunity to study with Bentley University, Boston. You study with international academics and researchers from both Universities and international academics from our Business School. You further benefit from knowledge delivered from the Institute of Pure and Applied Mathematics. You are welcome to attend events and seminars across the university whist you study either full time or part time on campus.

Courses include: Discreet Time Models, Economic Theory for Finance, Econometric Theory and Data Analysis for Finance, Mathematics for Finance, Continuous Time Models, Time Series, Economics of Financial Markets, Real Options and Decision Making, Portfolio Analysis, Empirical Methods in Financial Research and your dissertation. Upon graduating you have options to study further towards a PhD in the UK or USA or work in financial services, banks, insurance companies, wealth management and brokerage firms, science or marketing analysis.

You are taught in the School of Natural and Computing Sciences, in the Institute of Pure and Applied Mathematics. Research is multidisciplinary across Algebra, Algebraic Geometry, Mathematical Physics, Applied Topology, Geometry and Topology and Tropical Geometry.
