This programme develops the knowledge you need, to evaluate, prospect and lead viable oil and gas field development planning. You learn modules from the School of Engineering and The School of Geology, and you are in a major world oil and gas hub. Additionally, the programme is accredited by the Energy Institute and Institute of Mechanical Engineers.

You study in two main Schools:

The School of Engineering offer a range of postgraduate degrees in oil and gas engineering, petroleum engineering, process safety, project management, renewable energy engineering, reservoir engineering, safety and reliability engineering and subsea engineering. Research cuts across petroleum and natural gas engineering; mechanics of fluids, soil and structures; electrical and electronic engineering and theoretical and applied mechanics.

The School of Geosciences dates to 1892 and offers dynamic programmes associated with the oil and gas industry but also focusing on sedimentary basins, Basin Fill, Earth Sciences, Earth Surface Processes, Tectonics and Geophysics. The School has three departments which are: Archaeology, Geography and Environment and Geology and Petroleum Geology.

The University of Aberdeen has an excellent track record of programmes across disciplines covering the entire oil and gas supply chain. You learn from internationally experienced academics and researchers with direct experience of the industry. The programme is also available online.
