The Executive MBA is for managers across a range of industries and sectors who want to boost their career prospects. The Executive MBA programme will equip graduates to move into more senior management positions either in their own organization or elsewhere. As a research-led School, the latest thinking and techniques are rapidly incorporated into our teaching to keep you at the cutting edge of the world of business.

On the Executive MBA programme we deliver a series of industrial seminars, given by outside speakers from industry and commerce which provides contemporary ‘real world’ perspectives on the business environment. Often these speakers are Birmingham MBA alumni who can lend their perspective on how the course helped them to develop their career.

Throughout the programme, you will have the opportunity to be involved in group and individual activities all aimed at helping you to develop the skills and techniques which lead to highly successful employment outcomes. A few examples of these activities that you will undertake throughout your MBA programme include online profile building, Careers in Consultancy networking event, Distinguished leaders alumni seminar series, mock assessment centre, skills coaching, and video recorded interview practice.

By the end of the module students should be able to: Explain the role of finance and accounting personnel in providing information to managers; Interpret and critically appraise the main financial statements: the profit and loss account, the balance sheet and a cash flow statement; Critically evaluate the impact of cash-flow and its management; Analyse the principles and methods of costing, and how cost information can be used to support decision making; Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the main sources of finance for an organisation; Critically appraise the role of shareholders.
