UNIVERSITY OF BIRMINGHAM
Overall Rating

Overall the university of Birmingham is a great place to study! There is so much to do in the city and on campus and there are so many different things to get involved in, such as societies or sports teams, no matter what your interests are. The lecturers are really great and happy to help if you need them and the facilities on standard are excellent, there are lots of places to work whether it be independently or in a group. The campus has a really good feel to it and I am really happy and comfortable here!

Student Union

Our students union is excellent. The guild provides funding for all societies and we have a really reasonably priced bar open in the day for food and drinks and really great events held on the weekend and for sports night. There is also a costa and a subway. The students union are great and can help you with getting a job or looking for student accommodation too.

Clubs and Societies

There are societies and clubs for everyone and they are very well run. There are also so many sports to choose from and lots of socials which are also really great!

Accommodation

The uni accommodation itself is good however a lack of accommodation available to students meant that myself, along with others, were left without uni accommodation last year and there have been a number of students left in the same position this year too. It seems this is a recurring situation that the uni needs to address.

Uni Facilities

The uni has lots of a great facilities, the library is huge with lots of the core texts for each course and online access to the most popular texts. There are also lots of computer clusters across campus and the library is open 24/7 throughout the exam period. My only issue would be that it would be good to have somewhere to work on campus 24/7 all year round, and during the exam period the library and study areas get very busy and it is often hard to find places to work.

Course and Lecturers

City Life

There is something for everyone to do in Birmingham. There are many clubs for all music tastes and lots of bars and restaurants. The shopping centre is huge and there are cinemas, theatres and leisure centres all within easy access of the uni. It is also really reasonably priced for students in comparison to many places in the country.

Job Prospects

I haven't really looked into this aspect of the uni yet but they have a really good careers network who can help you with internships, work experience and any other assistance you might need such as updating your cv or applying to jobs after uni.

Student Support

Student support is great. There are lots of facilities to help you get a part time job, or with accommodation. For you have any work-related issues the tutors are good and easy to approach.

Having said what you have said would you recommend your uni?
