Student union
Upon enrolment, students are automatically granted membership of the University of Bradford Union of Students (UBU). This is a student-run organisation which acts as the voice of its members and ensures fair and free representation on a large number of issues surrounding the wider university community.
The UBU provides support for students, as well as volunteering opportunities, and organises the many clubs and societies in which students can get involved during their time at Bradford. These include sports and special interest societies as well as subject-specific organisation and postgraduate friendly groups.
UBU also organises events and entertainment for students throughout the academic year and is a social and recreational hub of activity.

Clubs and societies
The University of Bradford has a huge selection of student-organised groups to get involved with, covering a wide range of areas, from film, photography and theatre groups, to language societies, sports teams and eclectic special interest groups. Whatever the interest, there is sure to be something for everyone, and popular societies include archery, ice hockey and football.
The university encourages students to start new groups, if they do not find what they are looking for, and can even offer advice and organisational support through the university’s Student’s Union. This network of support gives opportunities for students to take on organisational roles within groups, and contribute to the university culture as well as gaining valuable experience to enhance a CV or resumé.
