UNIVERSITY OF BRIGHTON
Overall Rating

While there are drawbacks, most notably the housing situation and the campus I study at needing investment, the lecturers have made my university experience excellent. Brighton is a great place to live so overall I am really happy with my university experience.

Student Union

Not had much interaction with the SU. Could have been better and more vocal during the lecturer's strike period and should have advocated for students.

Clubs and Societies

Not many societies available. This is made even more difficult as societies are spread across the various campus'. ie I live near Grand Parade as this is where my lectures are. Many societies run at Falmer campus which is 30 mins on the bus, which means a bus ticket must be purchased.

Uni Facilities

There is a huge disparity between the different campus'. On my campus, the facilities are not as good ie the lecture halls aren't sufficient, I have had lectures without desks or any surface to write on making it hard to make notes.

Course and Lecturers

The lecturers I have are all amazing. They are doing a great job which makes the course entirely worth it.
It would be good if there was a system to record lectures as it is handy to be able to revisit topics.

City Life

On the whole, yes. Being a city campus, it is convenient to get to local shops, transport etc. However being in the centre does contribute to high housing costs.

Job Prospects

Yes I do have a work placement module, despite being on a very niche course. I am impressed the careers service were able to find a placement tailored to my module. I have not undertaken the placement yet but I am optimistic and happy with the careers service.

Student Support

I havent needed much support but I know if I do I can go to my lecturers. I did sign up for a mentor however I pulled out as I felt I did not need one. The stages I did go through for the mento scheme seemed good.
