Our innovative Personality Disorder programmes shed light on a complex area for the mental health professional. You’ll enhance your understanding and practice and gain skills that will support your leadership of the development and planning of services to benefit users.

The course responds to national policy developments and explores current thinking around personality disorder.

The course is relevant to a range of professionals (i.e. nursing, psychiatry, probation, social work, and occupational therapy) who work with this client group, and will encourage students to challenge their own, and others thinking about this diagnosis.

The aims of this module are to provide you with a theoretical understanding of personality disorder, its classification and the construct of 'personality disorder' as a terminology and diagnosis and enable you to examine your personal, organisational and societal perspectives on personality disorder.

Entry requirements

A recognised British first degree or its equivalent, or a BTEC Higher Diploma / Certificate. It is also expected that students will be working with individuals identified as experiencing personality disorder.
