Education in Society MA

UNIVERSITY OF CHESTER
Overall Rating

I enjoyed it very much, especially when you start building a community. I like the fact that there are other things to enjoy outside of working and study life.

Student Union

They can do more, and they are getting there. I like the new Students' Union space, very friendly and it has microwaves and kettles, water fountain and electric sockets for studying.

Clubs and Societies

Good variety, but not interesting enough to attract the whole university population?

Uni Facilities

Complete amount, but not highly maintained.

Course and Lecturers

Like most: How I get to explore the things that I want to, doing things that I am most interested in. Taught once in two weeks on a Saturday so I can plan my weekdays with work.

Like least: A lot of self-directed learning, which I am not used to and struggling a little because I don't know what I don't know.

City Life

It is walking distance to the city centre and to local attractions. Very handy to supermarkets, library and a mini cinema. Campuses are a bit widespread but close to local shops, so depending on the course and where the students choose to stay. I chose I slightly further accommodation to city centre and my campus, would not complain much about the location.

Job Prospects

Student futures are doing a good job.
Careers: organising workshops, seminars, Venture networks and
even a careers fest. They do CV and cover letter checking for free, that I find pretty handy. But careers are more focused on local opportunities and international students are not taken into account much.
Volunteering: wide range and interesting opportunities.
Work based learning for students which I find interesting and helps in employability or securing future career.
