UNIVERSITY OF CHESTER
Overall Rating

I have enjoyed my experience and I am enjoying my course. My dissertation supervisor is to be highly commended (Dr. Paul Moran) because he provides excellent advice, guidance and support and he is genuinely interested in my ideas and my topic area. I have also enjoyed meeting new people on my course.

Student Union

I don’t attend the students union. I only study part-time and I have a family so I don’t have time.

Clubs and Societies

There are a wide range of societies and sports available.

Uni Facilities

Very good

Course and Lecturers

My course is taught at the weekends (Friday evenings and Saturdays) and this is convenient for me, as I work full time. I see this as a very positive aspect of my courses I would struggle to attend lectures on weekdays and this would limit my ability to attend university at a postgraduate level, unless I reduced my working hours or studied a distance learning course, for example, through the Open University. As a negative I would say that some of the course content is delivered via PowerPoint and these are available via Moodle so I get frustrated at times sitting in a lecture from 9am to 4pm on a Saturday going through a PowerPoint that I could easily read at home.

City Life

Yes it’s very central to amenities and not far from where I live.

Job Prospects

There are many seminars, conferences and events about career planning and development, including starting a business. Information is regularly emailed to students about this.

Student Support

Some tutors are excellent and readily available to provide guidance in terms of academic support. Others are not as readily available or supportive and can be patronising. We always receive feedback on all of our assignments. This can either be written feedback or via a verbal recording. I haven’t accessed any personal support, e.g. counselling, so I can’t comment on that.
