Overview
Qualify as a teacher with a specialism in early years learning in just one year
This full-time, one-year course is designed to train you to become a qualified teacher with a focus on teaching children aged 3 to 7.
Learn the art of teaching
You will focus on teaching at Key Stage 1 level and the course will prepare you to take up a position in nurseries or schools.
This is achieved through a balance of study of the knowledge, skills and attitudes required by the teaching profession, the fundamentals of the national curriculum, and a dedicated focus on the development of your understanding of the role of the Early Years teacher.
In addition, you will gain vital hands-on experience of working
within the classroom through our 120-day placement programme, which will develop your confidence and competence to teach effectively.
After successful completion, you will be recommended for Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) so that you can begin working as a teacher in a primary school or other early years setting.
On this course you will:
Gain Qualified Teacher Status upon completion of the course that will allow you to teach in primary schools in England and Wales.
Develop your competence and confidence working within the classroom environment.
Gain the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required by the teaching profession.
Understand the cornerstone of the national curriculum for primary education, with a focus on how to help early years’ pupils.
Careers
Take the first steps towards your career within early years education
This programme will enable you to achieve Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and work as an early years teacher.
While the vast majority of graduates choose to work in a primary school, in previous years, some students have been employed in secondary schools, special schools or the wider education sector.
