Course Summary

This course offers an integral and essential step on the path to establishing the professional credibility and status of coaching and mentoring. Our emphasis is on aspects of coaching and mentoring as the enabler of learning with reflection on own practice to align with wider professional and organisational necessities.

You will be encouraged to be an autonomous learner and to engage in dialogue to develop more masterly thinking. You will be expected to undertake directed and self-directed study, as well as formative task work. You will have access to suitable resources to support you, many of which are available through the University’s virtual learning environment. This means outside class-based study you have some flexibility to manage your study around your own commitments.

Some of our graduates are already self-employed coaches working at executive level, some are working in leadership and managerial or in HR/OD roles across sectors and some make career moves having shaped their next step through their process of study. Some graduates are working in education, health care and business, and are thinking about how developing coaching behaviours and skills can improve teaching and learning, while others have gone on to implement coaching and mentoring programmes on the basis of what they have learned. Some of our graduates have received national and international recognition for their coaching and mentoring achievements.
