Course Summary

This course is for those want to become a professional accountant. It has been developed in response to student demand for a higher-level qualification to enhance career prospects and professional development. The course has a strong practical bias. You will learn how to apply theory to practice. We will train you in research methods and methodologies and expose you to the profession’s latest thinking, techniques and practices. While you are learning the core elements required of accountancy professionals, we will also prepare you for the professional exams set by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and the ACA qualification from the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW). The overall objective of the course is to help you qualify as a professional accountant. By the time you graduate, you will have the confidence and knowledge to gain these additional qualifications, making you a great prospect for employers.

This course is geared towards preparing you for employment. We will teach you through a combination of lectures, workshops and seminars. The content of all these will be in line with the requirements of accountancy’s professional bodies. You will be hands-on from the start as you get to grips with the key tools of the accounting profession - with core modules focusing on governance and business accountability, corporate reporting and business strategy. Throughout the course, we’ll give you practical tasks to put your knowledge to the test; allowing you to demonstrate your practical understanding of accounting principles. You will learn research, investigative and analytical skills, along with the ability to critically evaluate data and ideas, and the confidence and skill to communicate effectively on paper and face-to-face.

The course is focused on making you highly employable and preparing you for the professional examinations that will take your career to the next level. Within this field, you could become a chartered certified accountant, a chartered management accountant or a chartered public finance accountant. You could choose to work for a big accountancy firm, auditor or taxation specialist. There will be a range of opportunities open to you, since companies of all sizes in all sectors need people who can understand numbers and offer sound advice to help them flourish. With this qualification, you could go into the world of banking or investment, or into the finance department of any business. Alternatively, you could use your skills to help a charity, or work for local or central government or another public body.
