UNIVERSITY OF GLASGOW
Overall Rating

Wouldn't recommend anyone to study here. This is an institution that is more interested in taking money from students than providing the services and facilities that they so widely like to advertise as being part of the Top 10 in the UK.

As of the 2022 Academic Year the university has veeb oversubscribed on students. This has resulted in timetabling issues meaning students have not been aware of lecture locations until less than 24hrs prior in some instances. Lectures are rarely in the same place and at times facilities are not appropriate for the lectures. For example, the only avaliable rooms may be ones with projectors that don't work or no desk to use as they are instead presentation rooms, church halls or the library.

Moreover, the oversubscription has resulted in study spaces being overrun to the point where many students have to resort to sitting on the floor. Accommodation is near impossible to get due to this oversubscription and the university has done very little to support students in this area with some even being homeless for weeks on end having to couch surf.

It's common for staff to recommend texts that are not available for reading in the library catalogue. Additionally, staff are rarely avaliable for support outside lecture times.

All universities are money making machines but Glasgow in particular is a representative example of a university that attempts to get by with its prestige and does very little to provide the service it advertises.
