You’ll study in the heart of a UNESCO World Heritage Site and enjoy modern learning spaces equipped with the latest technology. The university’s leafy Avery Hill Campus in south-east London is a specialist site for teachers and health professionals. Medway Campus is a specialist science and engineering hub in north Kent which is home to award-winning research work and industry-standard labs. Everything you need is on-site, so you don’t have to venture far for anything.
Explore all aspects of postgraduate life at the university’s next Open Day or evening event. You can attend in person or online.
The University of Greenwich offers a large variety of courses via its four faculties:
Education, Health and Human Sciences
Engineering and Science
Liberal Arts and Sciences
Greenwich Business School
Postgraduate courses at Greenwich span a selection of study levels, including master’s, PGCE, PhD and PGDip programmes. There are over 200 full time and part time courses, as well as some online/distance courses available, giving students a helpful range of avenues for pursuing higher education in a way that suits them. Students will also benefit from the university’s investment in its facilities – more than £150 million has been used for laboratories, teaching spaces and the Dreadnought Building, a central hub for student academic and social activity.
Alongside taught courses, the faculties run research programmes to make contributions to the world of business and industry, with dedicated researcher support teams to assist in developing and guiding students. The university’s research disciplines include the likes of Business and Management Studies, Engineering, Chemistry and more.
The postgraduate entry requirements for the University of Greenwich vary from course to course, and in some cases can feature additional criteria. Students should carefully check the course page on the university website before applying.
Many of the Master’s courses at the University of Greenwich require that students have a 2:2 grade in a related undergraduate course. However, in some circumstances, applicants with significant professional experience will also be considered. MPhil/PhD Research programmes require applicants to have a Master’s degree in a relevant subject.
Students looking to take MSc Data Science need an honours degree at 2:2 or above in a computing-related or suitable numerate subject (e.g. mathematics or physics) that includes software development experience, or plenty of commercial or industrial experience using modern programming languages for software development.
Applicants whose first language is not English will also need to meet the English language requirements.
The University of Greenwich is a member of the University Alliance, which specialises in professional and technical universities. Greenwich offers career-focused degrees paired with a range of career services so that students can expect to gain qualifications and develop skills that will help them progress in their chosen area of study after finishing their programme.
A number of students sign up for mentoring each year at the university, and careers fairs take place to allow students the chance to introduce themselves and ask questions to future employers. There is a walk-in careers centre on the Greenwich Campus, pop-up careers clinics across all three University of Greenwich campuses, and a host of online resources to ensure students feel supported and that they can reach their potential.
The university also runs an Enterprise Challenge, business idea boot camps and workshops for students looking to start a business. More information can be found about how Greenwich supports entrepreneurial endeavours via its centre for innovation, Generator.
Greenwich has around 2,400 places in halls spread in and around its three campuses, with each one offering students a choice of accommodation options. This includes flats with shared kitchen and bathroom facilities, bedrooms with en-suites and some studio flats. A free intercampus bus between Greenwich and Avery Hill allows students to get to where they need to go.
Devonport House at Greenwich Campus is reserved for postgraduates and students aged 25 and over and has 123 en-suite rooms available in shared, self-catering flats.
Students with disabilities are given priority when the university allocates places in halls, and there are rooms and flats that are fully accessible and equipped for those with disabilities. The university will also consider applications for adaptations in specific circumstances.
The university has partnered with Studentpad, an online student accommodation service, to help students find private rented accommodation in the local area, in both Greenwich and Medway.
London has a vibrant and varied nightlife, sport and music venues, and top theatre. It is also home to many world-famous museums and parks. Its extensive transport network includes buses, trains, the Underground (or Tube) and the District Light Railway (DLR). The university campuses are the perfect blend of old and new. You'll use the latest technology in our state-of-the-art teaching spaces while enjoying the splendour of its historic buildings. Facilities include advanced laboratories for science and engineering students, plus three campus libraries with dedicated academic services librarians. In recent years, the university has invested millions in its facilities.
Dreadnought Building on Greenwich Campus is home to the Students’ Union, campus gym, student bar, computing labs and teaching spaces. The sports hall and pitches on Avery Hill Campus enable students to train and compete only minutes from where they study, a rare and highly valued feature for London-based universities. Medway Campus facilities include improved labs and greenhouse spaces, and a new social area.
To help students fund their education, the university has several scholarships and bursaries, which are awarded according to academic achievements, financial need, extracurricular activities and more. Awards are available for undergraduate and postgraduate students. For postgraduates, these include:
Greenwich Hardship Fund – financial support for students who encounter sudden financial difficulties.
