This degree will help you advance to that next level professionally or academically – from the comfort of your own home. This MSc focuses on the methodologies and technologies that address the challenges that companies are facing for competing in the volatile markets of today. It looks at how to generate applications from high-level business models to reduce time-to-market and development costs and how to evolve legacy systems and promote business processes in an economy dominated by the need to offer and integrate, on demand, new services.

Modules are assessed through a mix of coursework and written exams which will be held at a venue in your country (usually within two hours' travel from your home). You will have nine months to complete your project and it will be assessed separately.

Cloud-based software system development involves a wide range of languages and notations, from high-level business modelling languages to low-level scripting languages, with many different abstraction facilities. Domain specific languages (DSLs) help to close this implementation gap by combining the most advantageous aspects of both business experts and developers, improving software interoperability and quality, and increasing productivity and ROI in software development processes. As an example, LinkedIn managed to drastically shorten their release cycle from one feature every two weeks in 2011 to two features a day in 2013 by using the Gradle DSL for automating software builds as part of their software infrastructure. This module belongs to semester one.

For junior-level employees or recent graduates: a good second-class honours BSc degree (or qualification of equivalent standard recognised by the University) in a subject with a substantial element of Computing. For IT professionals, applications will take into account your number of years of experience.
