This course is for you if you want to study research methods at an advanced level and conduct an original research project in neuroscience. This postgraduate degree will provide you with advanced training in research methods in neuroscience, equipping you with the research and professional skills required for a research career.

All teaching is seminar based, or in one-to-one tutorial and research supervision sessions, with continuous assessment in the form of a research protocol, oral and poster presentations, and in the development of portfolios of assessed activities. You will write a thesis on original empirical research, which will involve an oral exam (viva).

This postgraduate degree will provide you with advanced training in research methods in psychology, equipping you with the research and professional skills required for a research career.

Modules

This module is designed to give you a comprehensive understanding of advanced statistical concepts in psychological research. You will critically evaluate, compare and select techniques of data collection and analysis in relation to specific research questions, and interpret the results of these statistical tests. This module will demonstrate how to conduct systematic literature and data base searches, and guide you to critically evaluate current research. These skills will help you in formulating coherent lines of argument, draw logical conclusions and convey complex ideas effectively.
