Course Summary

Course description

Students will be exposed to key developments and issues related to the global fashion industry. Core aspects of the course will focus on the international scope of fashion business, and will draw upon global challenges and insights in the design, sourcing, production, consumption and sustainability of fashion.

Teaching and learning

The course is delivered through a mix of lecturing, blended small and small group tutorials.

We use a range of teaching and learning methods, including tutorials, workshops, seminars and research projects. These are supported by an e-learning infrastructure that includes on-line feedback, lecture and lab podcasting and close academic supervision.

Career opportunities

The employment prospects following graduation from the Department are excellent; our graduates have been employed as buyers, marketers and PR in great positions at Burberry, Gucci, Abercombie and Fitch, Marks and Spencer and Prada.

We have extensive contacts in the fashion industry; these include Arcadia, ASOS, Next and Marks and Spencer and Burberry.

Modules

The unit aims to: Provide students with understanding of the opportunities, challenges and complexities of multi-channel marketing in the contemporary fashion retail environment; Provide students with a thorough grounding in the various forms of marketing communications and how they contribute to the integration of channels; and Enable students to develop the necessary skills and understanding to critically evaluate and analyse real world scenarios.

2.1 UK Honours degree or equivalent. Applications from candidates with academic backgrounds in Marketing, Management and Business. All backgrounds must contain substantial management, marketing or social science content.
