University of Sheffield-Overview

Established in 1963, we have a distinguished history founded on the principles of research excellence and forward thinking. We are recognised as the leading school of our kind in the UK, with an international reputation for the quality of our teaching and research, and for the achievements of our graduates.

As a school we are committed to research-led teaching. In every single Research Assessment Exercise, we have been awarded the maximum rating, making us the only Information School to ever achieve this. The most recent assessment showed that 100% of our research environment was judged to be of world-leading quality and 100% of our research impact was judged as world-leading or internationally excellent

The school is proven to be a consistent leader in the field. This is shown year after year by our position in the top two of the leading independent University Guides; scoring 97/100 in the ‘Times Good University Guide’ and 99/100 in the ‘Complete University Guide’.

Importantly this proven excellence is directly linked to our cutting edge and broad ranging courses, with our world leading research informing the course content and supportive academic staff offering their expert guidance.
