The MA Consultative Supervision has been running since 2000 and has an excellent reputation as a comprehensive training package for continuing professional development. It is aimed at members of the helping professions who provide non-managerial supervision for practitioners in relation to their professional practice. This includes health care professionals, counselors, therapists, psychologists, social workers and other similar roles. The MA is a two-year course, made up of one year’s training on the Postgraduate Diploma Consultative Supervision plus one year completing the Masters Research and dissertation stage. The PG Diploma stage covers both the practical and theoretical aspects of consultative supervision; on the Masters Research and dissertation stage you will learn about research methods for studying Consultative Supervision, and will undertake a research project of your choice. Once you’ve completed the Masters, you will have demonstrated that you have an in-depth knowledge of supervision, which is likely to include specialist knowledge gained by your own research findings. This is likely to further develop your reputation as a professional supervisor. There may also be opportunities for you to progress into further study via a PhD route on application, both at the University of South Wales and other UK Universities.
