A founding member of the Russell Group of research-intensive universities, the University is ranked in the Top 20 UK universities in the Complete University Guide, 2020 and is also a three-times winner of the Queen's Anniversary Prize.
The University is spread across five campuses in Southampton, one in Winchester and an engineering campus in Malaysia. Each campus has its own community and personality, world-leading facilities and specialisms.

The University of Southampton ranks 17th in The Complete University Guide 2021 and is in the top 90 global universities in the QS World University Rankings 2021. The University is organised into five faculties, each housing a number of subject areas. Postgraduate taught courses are offered in more than 40 subject areas ranging from audiology to psychology.
