Postgraduate Reviews of Courses at University of Strathclyde

There’s some boring lectures and some labs are undesirable, perhaps because there is no interaction, and the students are also uncooperative, and most of them are of certain nationalities. read full review
Worst would be looking for accomodation. Flats in glasgow are insanely expensive read full review

MPhil/ PhD Education

UNIVERSITY OF STRATHCLYDE

Mc Ronald I - February 2024

In recent months, I have encountered family bereavement which made me unable to focus and concentrate on my studies. As a student, the University supported me as a student carer, the staff provided me with opportunities to facilitate and support my health and well-being. The supervision team and my PGR committee have also supported me in my smooth return to my studies. My fellow PGR students have also extended their moral and emotional support when I traveled back home; all because I was able to build a supportive PhD community at Strathclyde. As I reflect on this particular aspect of my journey, I cannot think of any University that can accommodate and understand my journey, and the support I need to continue with my studies. And for this, I consider Strathclyde to be a great place and a community to study.

I think all Universities are not perfect. And Strathclyde still needs some room to grow to improve its services to us. One aspect would be providing systematic support for doctoral studies. I still think we are lacking in terms of having more concerted, supported, and synchronized work. Having a Doctoral Researchers Group is a good idea to bring all PhD students together. But faculties also have their own PGR representatives which rather confuses students. If this can be ironed out more, then I think we will have a more vibrant, streamlined, and well-orchestrated community that interacts with each other. read full review
Located in Glasgow City Centre, making its location so convenient. Great teaching staff and facilities. The worst aspect could be the lack of green spaces. read full review

More study places would be nice. A lot of the buildings are freezing with the cold air on in the winter read full review
The university is really supportive towards international student and has given me a lot of opportunities I would not have gotten in my home country. read full review

They have nice facilities and the buildings are a combination of both modern and old ones. You have different classes in different buildings so you can experience both.
However, there is a huge lack of diversity for its Masters courses. It is hugely only dominanted by Indian students alone, which leaves no room to learn about other cultures, make friends from other countries. read full review
The University of Strathclyde is well known for its creative teaching strategies, applied research, and heavy emphasis on industry interaction. It improves students' employability because of its emphasis on practical applications. read full review
As a January intake student I wish if there's more events to explain the student life and tools like myplace website, because I was lost at the beginning and had to ask alot to understand my timetable, but other than that the lecturers are so helpful read full review
